Grade 5 & 6 (Boys)
Card Making competition was conducted on September 5th. Through this competition, students got an opportunity to appreciate the dedication of their teachers. They also entertained them with their talents like singing, dancing and enacting of their favourite teachers. It helped to develop their innovation, creativity and writing skills.
Art & Craft competition was conducted on September 12th. During this competition, grade 5 students used waste cardboard boxes to make useful object while grade 6 students were asked to draw/paint on the topic ‘My Favourite Picnic Spot’. It aimed to develop imagination, creativity and innovation among them.
Science Exhibition was held on September 19th. This exhibition was an opportunity for our young scientists to put up a wonderful display of their scientific skills through working models, still models, charts and more. A lot of creative and innovative skills were displayed on different concept. It helped to improve their skills of innovation and scientific thinking.
Grade 7 & 8 (Girls)
Teachers Day was organised by Student Council on September 5th. This day was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their love for their teachers. Various games and skit were prepared for their teachers. It helped to develop their organizational skills.
Science Exhibition was conducted on September 17th. This exhibition was an opportunity for students to display their scientific talents and stimulate greater interest in scientific investigations on the themes ‘Science for Mankind’ for grade 7 and ‘Sustainability/Artificial Intelligence’ for grade 8. They presented their innovation and creativity.
A Visit to Etihad Museum was organised on September 18th. Through this visit, students got an opportunity to learn about the UAE’s heritage. It also gave them an insight into the leaders of UAE.
A Visit to a Mosque was organised on September 27th. Students were taken to the Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque. It was an opportunity for them to experience the Islamic culture and heritage. It also helped them know about the Mosque.
Grade 7 & 8 (Boys)
A Special Assembly titled ‘Environment Day’ was conducted on September 17th with mass participation of grade 8 division ‘N’. During this assembly, students were informed about the medicinal benefit of few plants. It created awareness among them about some very important medicinal plants and its benefits.
Talents Day was held on September 18th. Students showcased their talents in co-curricular activities. They took part in dance music and painting competition. They performed well and made the programme a huge success. It also helped them learn to face audience and get rid of their stage fear.
Inter-House Quiz competition was conducted on September 18th. Students participated in two rounds and the top scorers of the first round represented their house in final. This competition was an opportunity for them to gain knowledge about different subjects and co-curricular subjects out of text book.
Grade 9 & 10 (Girls)
Teacher’s Day was celebrated on September 4th. The purpose of this day was to honor teachers and their contribution towards moulding the future of the students. It started off with welcoming the teachers in a traditional manner followed by various dance performances, games and a very informative & emotional skit performed by the students. It concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the Head girl lauding the entire staff for their exemplary hard work and dedication.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Festivals of India’ was conducted on September 12th. During this assembly, grade 9 students of Emerald House depicted the cultural diversity of India. They presented a short enactment accompanied with a group song highlighting the cultures and festivals celebrated in all parts of India. The section supervisor appreciated the efforts put in by them and emphasized on practicing humanity & peace.
Hindi Divas was held on September 16th. This event was celebrated with great pomp and show in the school auditorium. They started with lighting of the lamp followed by a prayer song. Students showcased the importance of celebrating this day by various dance performances and a motivational skit.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘International Peace Day’ was conducted on September 19th. During this assembly, grade 9 students of Ruby house participated in the morning assembly with full zeal and enthusiasm. It aimed to develop a sense of compassion among students and to inculcate the spirit of universal brotherhood & world peace. They started with a rejuvenating prayer which filled the atmosphere with tranquility. Skit emphasizing on the utmost need of the hour - Peace, was very well enacted. Their enthralling and energetic participation was witnessed.
Knowledge Fiesta exhibition was organised on September 24th. This exhibition created awareness among students of the Globe, Scientific and Mathematical skills. Their creativity was revealed through the innovative working models under different subjects. They showcased their hard-work and team effort.
French Assembly was conducted on September 26th. The purpose of this assembly for students was to demonstrate effective communication skills in French language.
Grade 9 & 10 (Boys)
Teacher’s Day was celebrated on September 5th. On this day, students express their gratitude, respect and appreciation for their teachers. This day was also dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – second President of India. They showed their gratitude by writing the comments on the chart which was displayed on the Easel Board and tokens of appreciation in the form of handmade cards, gifts & flowers were presented. Card making competition depicting love & compassion and cultural programmes like musical band, dance & guess the teacher were included. Programme was concluded with the theme ‘Save Environment’. Teachers felt that they are appreciated and valued highly.
Hindi Diwas was held on September 16th. This program aimed to preserve & promote India’s linguistic interests related to Hindi language globally, to instill human values inherent in its literature and to commemorate the day to celebrate our National Language. There was a variety of programs like drama which signified the importance of Hindi & some human values, poems wrapped with humor, songs blended with patriotism and the vibrant folk dances. It was ended with a note that ‘Hindi’ the unique language should be spread to all the directions of the world.
World Gratitude Day was celebrated on September 19th. Through chart making inter-class competition by the Art department, students commemorated this day. It was an opportunity for them to reflect on the many amazing things we have in our lives, how it would positively impact our well-being and make us happier & more contented people.
World Peace Day (Poster and Collage making competition) was held on September 26th. Students participated in the inter-house art competition to exhibit their creativity to their best potential. All the four houses were allocated places to showcase their inoculation of ideas and expressions. Poster topic was ‘Unity in Diversity & Peace on Earth’ for grade 9 students and Collage topic was ‘Education for Peace & Art for Peace’ for grade 10 students. They demonstrated expression in the form of art as a group towards World Peace, keeping the spirit of sportsmanship and competitiveness with each other.
Grade 11 (Boys)
Magazine Release was held on September 6th. As a part of summer assignment, students compiled class magazines. They were encouraged to include all forms of writing such as poems, articles, facts, reports, travelogues, recipes and more. Each class came up with their own innovative ideas. It was an innovative and a creative exhibition of their talents.
Salesmanship Field Trip scheduled on September 24th was cancelled due to conflict with other activities.
Grade 11 & 12 (Boys)
Eco-Forum was conducted on September 12th. The objective of this program was to enable students learn economics in fun filled manner. Various activities were conducted by Economics department. They participated actively in various segments of the program.
Elocution Competition (Islamic Education) was conducted on September 19th for grade 5 & 6, on September 20th for grade 8 boys, on September 21st for grade 9 girls and on September 22nd for grade 11 & 12 boys. This competition helped students to study the important aspects related to the topic.
Elocution Competitions planned from September 20th to 22nd for grades 7 boys, 7 & 8 girls, 10 girls, 9 & 10 boys and 11 & 12 girls respectively was cancelled. It could not be conducted because of revision happening and some portion was getting completed.
Arabic Spelling competition scheduled on September 19th for grade 5 & 6 was cancelled as the students were busy in revision and in completion of portion for the Half Yearly Examination.
An Educational Visit to Al Farooq Mosque was organised on September 24th for grade 8. The purpose of this educational visit for students was to create awareness among them about the architecture and the basic tenets of Islam. They learnt about the architecture in Islam and the basic principles of Islam.
Poster Making competition was held on September 25th for grade 7 & 8. The topic of the competition for grade 8 was “Year of Zayed” and for grade 7 was ‘Heritage & Culture of the UAE. Students participated with great enthusiasm. It enabled them to showcase their inner talent in paintings. It also gave them opportunity to pay tribute to the great leader of UAE and to take interest in the culture & tradition of the UAE.
Special Presentations of University of Nottingham (UK), University of Waterloo (Canada), King’s College London (UK), State University of New York Plattsburgh (USA) and University of Westminster (UK) were conducted on September 16th, 19th, 20th & 25th respectively for grade 12. These presentations were an opportunity for students to get knowledge about the university / college programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure and deadline of application.
A College Visit to Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (UAE) was organised on September 23rd for grade 12 Commerce & Humanities. This visit was intended for students to get knowledge about the academy’s program offer and admission process. They also got a tour on their facilities and experienced the campus life. Admission requirements, application process & deadlines and fee structure were included.
A Special Presentation of Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) Bahrain was conducted on September 24th for grade 12 Science with Biology. The purpose of this presentation was to give orientation to students about their programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure and deadline of application.
USA Universities Fair was held on September 30th for grade 12. Through this fair, students got an opportunity to meet college representatives. They were informed about their programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure and deadline of application.
Aptitude Assessments and Student Talks on the topics ‘Social Intelligence’, ‘Media Smart’, ‘Exam Ready’, ‘Managing & Handling Pressure’, ‘Anger Management’ & ‘Communication with Parents’ planned in the month of September were postponed on the advice of the Department Head due to pressure of completing assessments and will be rescheduled subject to venue availability.
A Parent Talk on the topic ‘Literacy & Numeracy Skills’ for grade 5 parents whose ward is receiving LC support was rescheduled from September 14th to September 21st due to unexpected long weekend holiday. This talk was an opportunity to trained parents on how to help their ward to solve word problems and work on comprehension questions.
A Workshop on Art, Music & Dance Therapy and Play Therapy was conducted on September 1st for selected Counsellors. This workshop was a further training for in house counsellors as part of continuous professional development initiatives.
CPD Program on E-Learning – Destination Success and Use of Interactive White Boards were held from September 16th till 26th respectively. These trainings helped teachers to understand the collaborative tool needed. They were trained in the effective use of the eLearning modules along with the eLearning equipment that is made available in the classroom. It also helped to determine the level and effectiveness of teachers in using the ‘interactive white boards’.
