GRADE-WISE

Grade 5 & 6 (Boys)

Cinema for a Cause will be organised on April 18th. This program will help to develop in students the value of giving.

Earth Day with the theme titled ‘Nurture a Plant’ will be held on April 23rd. This day will be an opportunity to promote awareness among students about environment. It will also help to inculcate the responsibility to use the natural resources judiciously and conserve them for future generations.

Makers Day will be held on April 23rd. This day will help students to improve their spatial thinking, creativity and innovation.

Book Day with the theme ‘Characters Coming to Life’ will be celebrated on April 24th. The purpose of this day is to inspire students to develop their lifelong passion for reading. It will also help to build their confidence into creativity and fabulous imaginations.

Grade 7 & 8 (Girls)

Thematic Assembly titled ‘Earth Day’ will be held on April 16th. This day will create awareness among students on the importance of protecting our environment. They will highlight the importance of the topic through a skit.

Cinema for a Cause will be conducted on April 22nd. The objective of this program for students is to inculcate the values of charity and empathy along with providing entertainment.

Thematic Assembly titled ‘World Book Day’ will be held on April 23rd. During this assembly, students will emphasize the importance of reading. It will also help to encourage them to explore the pleasure of books and get to know about well-known authors.

Making Book Marks and Book Covers will be organised on April 23rd. Students of grade 7 will be engaged in making book marks and students of grade 8 will be involved in making book covers to mark the World Book Day. It will also be an opportunity for them to showcase their creativity and skills.

Thematic Assembly titled ‘Labour Day’ will be held on April 30th. Through this special assembly, students will commemorate the achievement and contributions made by the workers who provide their services all over.

Grade 7 & 8 (Boys)

A Special Assembly will be held on April 16th. This assembly aim to introduce to students about celebrating the Year of Zayed. It will also be an opportunity to instill among them the values of Sheikh Zayed and work together to fulfill its vision.

Street Play titled ‘Earth Day’ will be conducted on April 22nd. During this activity, students will enact a play to spread awareness among fellow students on protecting the Earth. It will also help them to analyse the importance of environment protection.

Donation of Books will be organised during this month. Students will donate their story books for Share N Care Library. It will help to inculcate among them the value of sharing with others.

Grade 9 & 10 (Girls)

Thematic Assembly titled ‘Earth Day’ will be held on April 22nd. The purpose of this assembly is to increase student’s awareness about the importance of environment protection. It will also be an opportunity for them to appreciate the uniqueness of our planet Earth with its incredible biodiversity.

Quiz Competition (Hindi / General) will be conducted on April 22nd. This competition will help students to improve or expand their knowledge of things, either general or in specific area. It also aims to promote a sense of healthy competition and team spirit among them.

An Annual Picnic to Motion Gate and Aquaventure, Atlantis will be organized on April 23rd. This picnic will be packed with fun and excitement for the students ensuring team building and sense of fellowship among them.

Cinema for a Cause will be conducted on April 25th. Through this program, students will learn to blend the values of recreation and charity.

Salad Dressing and Sandwich Making competition will be conducted on April 30th. This competition will create awareness among students about nutrition facts and healthy food habits.

Grade 9 (Boys)

World Earth Day will be held on April 22nd. During this day, Art Department will conduct an inter-house poster making competition for students. It will help to educate them about the health and other risks associated with the use & disposal of plastics. It also aims to mobilizing the world to stop the use of plastic, including creating support for a global effort to eliminate single-use plastics along with global regulation for the disposal of plastics.

Grade 9 & 10 (Boys)

World Heritage Day with the theme titled ‘Heritage for Generations’ will be celebrated on April 18th. This day aim to raise awareness about the diversity of cultural & natural heritage and the efforts that are required to preserve it. The Department of Social Science will conduct a thematic assembly and a canvas painting competition for students. It will provide them an opportunity to showcase how incredible our World Heritage is.

Student Council Elections will be conducted on April 25th. Teachers and students will participate in democratic elections to be held in the school auditorium. It will help to provide proactive leadership that will be involved in various activities of the school, for the welfare of the school and benefit of its students.

Grade 10 (Boys)

World Book Day with the theme titled ‘Share a Story’ will be held on April 23rd. The purpose of this day is to pay a world-wide tribute to books & authors and to encourage children to discover the pleasures of reading & sharing stories. English and Hindi Department will commemorate this day by guiding students to enact a moral story.

Grade 11 (Boys)

Maths Workshop will be conducted on April 22nd for Maths students. This workshop will enable students to explore Maths learning through graphs, visual and computer aided strategies. It is a curriculum enrichment and modification to connect learning with person learning profiles.

Grade 11 & 12 (Boys)

Begin With Me (Writing) will be organised on April 23rd. The objective of this creative writings activity is to encourage students to explore the world of literature and express their understanding of it. It is curriculum enhancement with the theme ‘English language and literature’.

Student Council Selection will be held during this month. This selection will help to empower students with responsibilities to support the sectional activities (academics and extracurricular). It will be a student support and leadership.

Grade 12 (Boys)

A Field Trip will be organised on April 24th for Salesmanship students. This trip aim to demonstrate to students the understanding of theoretical learning by connecting it with the real world experiences. It will help to enhance school curriculum with hands on activities and problem solving skills. Curriculum enrichment, curriculum enhancement and extended learning will also be included.

CAREER CENTRE

Information Session on “Biodiversity” by University of Waterloo (Canada) will be conducted on April 16th for grade 12 Science with Biology. This session will be an opportunity for students to explore the concept of ‘Biodiversity’ as well as why it matters to human well-being.

USA Liberal Arts Colleges Mini Fair will be held on April 17th for grade 12. Through this fair, students will meet college representatives and will be informed about their programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure & deadline of application.

Information Session on Careers in Banking & Finance will be conducted on April 21st (tentative) for grade 12 Commerce with Maths. The objective of this session is to expose students with the latest trends and developments in the Banking & Financial space in order to enable them to choose the right career paths. Business Quiz and Stock Market Game will also be included.

A Special Presentation of Foothill & De Anza College (USA) will be held on April 25th for grade 12. During this presentation, students will get orientation about their programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure and deadline of application.

Information Session on Career in Cyber Security will be conducted on April 25th (tentative) for grade 11. The purpose of this session is to orient the students with the emerging career related to cyber security in the digital world.

Four Ivy League Universities Mini Fair will be held on April 30th (tentative) for grade 12. Students will meet university representatives. It will be an opportunity for them to know about their programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure and deadline of application.

COUNSELLING CENTRE

Student Talks on the topics ‘Self-Esteem’, ‘Bully Proofing’, ‘Get Set Goal’ and ‘Study Smart’ will be conducted on April 16th, 17th, 29th & 30th for grades 6 to 9 respectively. These talks will help students to identify and develop their ways to improve self-esteem, be aware of the different types of bullying with strategies to handle bullies, setting smart goals and know the appropriate study skills to handle academic challenges.

An Orientation (Teacher Talk) will be conducted on April 24th for new teachers. Through this talk, teachers will know about counselling services in IHS.

A Parent Talk on the topic ‘Understanding Your Adolescent’ will be held on April 27th for grades 7 to 9 parents. This talk aim in helping parents know their ward’s better.

LEARNING CENTRE

A Parent Talk on the topic ‘Literacy and Numeracy’ will be held on April 27th for grade 5 & 6 parents whose wards are receiving Learning Centre support. During this talk, parents will learn about reading & spelling, sentence writing and two step word problems.

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

CPD Program on E-Learning – “Destination Success” and “Use of Interactive White Boards” will be held from April 16th to 30th (tentative) for teachers respectively. This program will help teachers to understand all collaborative tools needed. It will also help to determine their level and effectiveness in using the interactive white boards.

Happy Healthy Self Information Sharing Session will be held on April 19th for selected Counsellors at Canadian University Dubai. This session aim to provide a platform where we can gain from each other’s knowledge & experience in helping students generate positive energy, work towards a positive mindset and subsequently elevate their overall sense of wellbeing, which is proven to be a significant component of students’ success.

A Workshop on CBT + REBT, Speech & Language Therapy will be conducted on April 21st for selected Counsellors. This workshop is a further training for in-house counsellors as part of continuous professional development initiatives.

Exploratory Approach for Middle School Teachers in the subject of Science will be held on April 27th. The topics that will be dealt are Hands on Experiment based learning, Investigative based learning, Discovery approach, Inquiry based learning, Collaborative learning, Experiential learning (connecting day to day experiences with learning) which will include engage, elicit, explain, elaborate & evaluate, Project based learning, Analytical approach, Constructive approach, How to make Blue Print of question paper and How to frame questions with special reference to the Stem of the questions.
